An introduction to our
Environmental conservation programs
At Don Tomas, we pride ourselves on the quality of our coffee. We believe that the quality of our coffee is a direct result of the utmost care we provide for the environment in which it is cultivated and grown. As fourth-generation coffee growers, we believe in the sustainability of our environment as it sets our brand apart from the rest.
We have established several environmental protection programs to ensure the prosperity of our coffee fields. We are committed to maintaining natural ecosystems by prohibiting deforestation and the protection of all wildlife native to the confines of our coffee fields.
Not only do we constantly monitor the quality of our water to ensure it meets legal standards for use, but also commit ourselves to provide access to purified water at all times for our entire community workers and families that make up our community.
We strive to conserve the purest elements of our soil in order to grow the cleanest and most natural coffee for you.

Water conservation
Water conservation. Reusing the Honey Water Coffee processing uses a lot of water, and quite often the sweetened honey water is released without treatment and contaminates rivers, creeks, and lakes. At Don Tomas farms, we reuse and recycle this honey water during the coffee washing process. The benefits of reusing the honey water aren’t only ecological, it’s actually better for the coffee. Excessive washing of coffee with water leeches out nutrients from the coffee beans, but reusing the honey water allows our coffee bean to retain the sugars, proteins, and acids that make a good cup of coffee brighter. After the washing, the honey water is piped to fertilize pastures growing sorghum grain. Sorghum is a high-protein fodder we use to feed dairy cows and cattle located at another part of the Don Tomas farms.
Soil conservation
We strive to conserve the natural elements of our soil in order to produce the cleanest and most natural coffee. Based on soil analysis conducted annually, we aim to update our fertilization methods to maintain the natural elements of our soil.

Waste Management
All waste on property is sorted in order to foster a cleaner environment. Burning trash on site is prohibited in order to ensure clean air for all residents and workers of the area. All chemically contaminated waste is separated from regular waste in order to limit contamination among people. Our goal is to improve our waste management in order to ensure healthy and clean living conditions among all residents and workers of the area.
